Ancient Wisdom for Modern Stress

In the golden days, technology had not yet been integrated into societal structures.  People basically formed society around groups and a shared likeness toward certain behaviors. For instance, the Church was a common fete where congregants organized their livelihoods under a particular doctrine. The rich, too, in the eras of the 1960's and 1970's also had a class of their own. Without forgetting the humble who, at most, were the largest among the then population, too, were deemed fit to have a merger of their own. Now, fast forward to 2026, where machine learning and Artificial Intelligence are with us. Considering factors like status, belief, and social upbringing of the then ancient folks, wisdom surely does not come overnight.
Reading has, for centuries, been used as a mode of message conveyance. Looking beyond Africa, the Greeks had scrolls for data storage, and even the Bible, too, at one point in time was a collection of many scrolls. One cannot be wise without a fresh input of knowledge. Growing up, the number of years one spends in school is quite massive. Such an acquisition of knowledge and information would guarantee the individual a safe and secure future, doing the job they cherish and love. Back then, farming was significant, and school was an eye-opening opportunity for every child in the country of Kenya. The then President, the Late H.E. Daniel Moi, urged the synthesis of education with free milk. An action that saw a drastic rise in education in the country. It is now a mere fact that books are the epitome of knowledge, and this activity of reading has been present in society for the longest time.
Handling stress can be quite a hectic activity, considering the many devices we have in our homes. From smart TVs, to desktops, laptops, and multple internet freindly devices. Adding salt to the injury, these devices transmit electromagnetic waves that tamper with brain function. Meaning the more devices in your home, the riskier it gets. Nonetheless, we have to use tech; that is just a mere truth. But, as there have been harmful occurrences identified by humans since existence, these too can be managed, using wisdom, actually. I would say having an AI like ChatGPT within arm's reach is similar to having a high-tech machine that would maybe treat a malignant ailment, or even manage it. It is quite similar! Science has come this far, and we can use it to our advantage; we can use it to handle our stress.
I remember in my younger days when I longed to have what other kids had. Not that we were from a humble background, but stuff like not having a DSTV dish installed in our home took a long toll on me. However, this was not a reason I missed out on having fun with my friends. Then, if there were a ChatGPT, it would have been a whole new world today. And with this, I draw the line to the importance of using technology positively to manage stress, and how it would impact our livelihoods in the long run. Today, we can garner knowledge that is globally recognized from every corner of the earth using a smartphone. Reading can now be engaging as one would read and read from their devices from the comfort of their homes. And with this reading comes daily applicable knowledge, knowledge you can use. It is now a tech society, and tech will catapult us to the next stage of human existence. Nonetheless, wisdom does not come overnight, as our forefathers would say. So, I would say, tuning our behavior to suit our learning needs using tech devices and databases is a safe starting point for your intellectual journey. As they say, what is life without learning, for growth is the essence of living.
